Doctor of Sciences in Philosophy | Philosophy of Cognitive Science
Welcome here! I am Igor F. Mikhailov, a Doctor of Philosophy specializing in the fascinating field of Cognitive Science. Explore the intersections of philosophy and the science of mind with me.
I graduated from Moscow State University, Philosophical Faculty, in 1984. Then, I teached philosophy in an old Soviet institution that didn't survive that far. In 1991, I received the Candidate degree (equivalent to PhD) for the dissertation on 'Socio-Cultural Determination of the Activity of the Subject of Cognition'. For a decade, I was employed in the corporate sector dealing primarily with web projects development. Then I contunued teaching and, in 2011, was adopted to do my researches in the Institute of Philosophy, Russian Academy of Sciences. There I defended the thesis on 'Cognitive Grounds of Sociality', which brought me the Doctor of Sciences Degree (Dr. Sc., no international equivalent) in Philosophy. Now I keep my position in the Institute while teaching in Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), in Higher Scool of Economics (HSE), and in Physical Institute of the Academy of Sciences.
My present research generally relates to Philosophy of Cognitive Sciences encompassing such topics as computations and representations in cognitive explanations, consciousness natural and artificial, and social liaisons and norms as extentions of cognitive capabilities.
The most comprehensive list of my publications may be found on this Russian Scientific Index Portal. Some of the papers are in English, but most of them in Russian.
These are my papers as indexed by Web of Science.
These are the ones caught up by Scopus.
And this is what ORCID knows about me.
My space on ResearchGate is updated from time to time, the same being true about Academia.Edu. But still these are probably the best places to pick up some PDFs.
Feel free to reach out to me for inquiries, collaborations, or discussions. I am open to connecting with fellow philosophers, researchers, and anyone interested in the intriguing world of Cognitive Science.
